Since 1968. Experience the wonder of a child at Christmas. Smell the scents of candles, gingerbread, meats and cheeses, fudge and funnelcakes, herbs and applebutter. Listen to the cheerful tinkle of windchimes, the low ticking of a grandfather clock, the ringing melody of a dulcimer. Revel in the colors, the lights, the excitement of the Capital City Art and Craft Show featuring the works of over 150 artisans from West Virginia and several other states. These artisans often show works-in-progress and provide demonstrations of their unique skills.

Featuring artists & craftsmen from 12 states, you can shop over 180 booths of high quality country, folk art, traditional, and contemporary arts & crafts including; jewelry, floral designs, decorative painting, soft sculpture, photography, clothing, quilts, personalized ornaments, scented candles, lotions & soaps, pet collars-treats-accessories, holiday decorations, dips & drink mixes, candies, fudges, kettle korn, and much more! Enjoy fantastic food and entertainment! Kids can visit with Santa!

Admission is adults $5.50, Senior Citizens (65+) $5.00, Children (6-12) $1.00, and under 6 are free.

Canaan Valley Resort will host the 14th Annual WV Days Celebration with a civil war re-enactment, authentic encampment, battlefield and surgery demonstration, presented by the Barbour Grays from Philippi, WV; 1st. West Virginia Cavalry Company “C”, the 140th Volunteers from Green County, PA, and the WV Light Artillery. These volunteers bring history to life for all to see. Family oriented – see women, service men and children dress in period clothing.

West Virginia’s local artisans and crafters will be on hand to display and sell their wares on Saturday. An Irish Road Bowling competition will take place on Sunday (time tbd).

6pm – 8pm: Encampment Open – tour the grounds and learn how our soldiers and their families lived during these times of war.

Area quilters are invited to display quilts and wall hangings.  Prizes for Best of Show and People’s Choice will be awarded. Quilt entries will be accepted during March 9 and 10. Items exhibited in 2009 will not be eligible for display. Open House, Saturday, March 13 You are invited to attend our free Open House from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Local vendors and skilled needle artists will be featured. A Celebration of National Quilt Day – Saturday, March 20.
