Rosemary Ellen Guiley is one of the leading experts on the paranormal, with 42 books published on a wide range of topics. She is the world-famous author of nine encyclopedias, including The Encyclopedia of Vampires, Werewolves and Other Monsters, and The Encyclopedia of Demons & Demonology. Each workshop is $30 or you can come to ALL THREE for only $75! Kids 14-18 can come for only $20 per class. All three of them will count as 3 credits toward your degree at IMU.

Vampires, Truth versus Fiction, Tuesday, February 23rd, 7 pm
Vampires are real entities, but bear little resemblance to the glamorous fanged people portrayed in film and fiction. Learn about the fascinating history and folklore of vampires, some of the myths perpetrated in fiction, and the development of the vampire subcultures of psychic and blood vampires and vampire lifestylers. She will also be talking about Vampires in Film, Literature and Pop Culture. The discovery of the Eastern European vampire cult in the early 18th century launched an explosion of vampire-related arts and performing arts. Audiences were dazzled with the new monster. What does the vampire represent to us, and how has its image changed in the past 200 years? The monster has transformed from villain to superhero. Does it have any power left to horrify?

Werewolves? Who or What are They? Wednesday, February 24th, 7 pm
Do werewolves actually exist or are they merely a myth? Learn the history and mythology and folklore of werewolves.

What You Need to Know About Demons and Psychic Protection, Thursday February 25th, 7 pm
Our beliefs about the demonic side of the spirit realm is diverse. This overview captures the history of demons in Western myth, lore, religion and occultism, and what we believe about them and why. Some of the most famous possession and exorcism cases in history are covered. How can demons be recognized and what distinguishes a demon from an angry ghost in a negative haunting?

Working in the paranormal requires common sense grounding for spiritual protection against negative entities, potential spirit attachment, and infestation. What are the most effective ways to protect one’s self, before, during and after paranormal investigation or work? What are the signs of problems, and the remedies for them?

Residents of Carroll Terrace, on Virginia Street East in Charleston, invite the public to come trick-or-treating at the complex’s community garden!  During Charleston’s designated trick-or-treat time – Thursday, October 29, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. – Carroll Terrace residents and garden participants will be handing out candy to area youth and offering the neighborhood a chance to tour the garden.

Zombies will congregate in the parking lot at the top of High Street and then begin their walk around 8:00 and proceed to The Warner Theatre
When all Zombies are accounted for, a screening of Dawn of The Dead will begin (around 9pm)
Everyone is encouraged to do your own makeup, however there will be artists on hand to help ‘freshen up’ or do a complete ‘zombie makeover’ (for a small fee)

All proceeds are given to local Jefferson County Charities in total about $100,000 over a span of 15 years.

Admission to Haunted Fairgrounds is $7.00 for Adults & $4.00 Under 12.
This Event is suggested for ages 8 and up.

Come to the Stop The PATH fundraiser on Sat and Sunday, Oct 10th and 11th at River Rocks, off of Rt 33 between Buckhannon and Elkins on Boy Scout Road.
It is a camping and music weekend with over 10 bands! $15 donation at the gate, bring your own everything and No Dogs Allowed.

Proceeds from the fundraiser and benefit will go toward stopping PATH from being built in West Virginia.

The event begins at noon Saturday and will end at 6 p.m. Sunday. Camping will be available and admission is a $15 donation at the door.

PATH is a proposed 765kV high voltage power line that will run from St. Albans to Kemptown, Md., a total of 224 miles in West Virginia.
